Animal Reiki
Animal Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive energy healing practice adapted from traditional Reiki, focused on supporting the well-being of animals. It’s often used for pets like dogs, cats, horses, rabbits and more.
🐾 What Is Animal Reiki?
Animal Reiki is a holistic practice in which a practitioner offers calming, supportive energy to an animal. It’s typically used to help:
Reduce stress or anxiety
Support healing after illness, surgery, or trauma
Improve emotional well-being
Strengthen trust and the human–animal bond
It does not replace veterinary care, but many people use it alongside medical treatment.
🐴 How Is It Done?
Animal Reiki is usually performed in one of two ways:
1. Hands-off (most common)
Because animals may be sensitive to touch, practitioners often sit quietly and allow the animal to approach if they choose.
The session is based on invitation, consent, and respect—the animal decides how close they want to be.
2. Gentle hands-on
If the animal is comfortable, light touch may be used on areas like the shoulders or back.
Sessions are often done in a calm environment—at home, a stable, a sanctuary, or remotely.
Benefits Reported by Clients
While effects vary, common observations include:
Deep relaxation or calm behaviour
Decrease in nervous behaviours (pacing, hiding, vocalizing)
Increased trust, especially in rescue animals
Faster recovery after stress or veterinary procedures
Improved comfort in elderly or terminally ill pets
Again, Reiki is complementary—not a replacement for medical care.
